About Uncommon Habitat

Hi, I’m Sasha. I’m an artist, visual researcher, lifelong collector, and the person behind Uncommon Habitat.

I have always been interested in the relationship between how something looks and how it makes us feel.

I am someone who has rearranged the same furniture more times than any reasonable person would consider necessary… But my experimentation taught me that a room can change dramatically with only a few small adjustments.

Sometimes the rug needs to move. Sometimes the room has too many small objects and no clear focal point. Sometimes it needs more color, less contrast, a better pathway, or one strange thing that prevents it from feeling too well behaved.

created Uncommon Habitat to help people develop that kind of visual awareness. I do not believe your taste can be reduced to one official design-style label. Your taste is a pattern of preferences. It appears in the colors you repeatedly notice, the materials you want to touch, the objects you save, the rooms you remember, and the environments where you feel most like yourself.

The more clearly you can recognize those patterns, the less dependent you become on other people’s rules.

The Room Reset is designed to give you a practical place to begin making your home feel more like your own.

Thank you for inviting me into your home.
